About our cat club...

Welcome, and thanks for visiting our website. We’d like to introduce you to our Sonoma County cat club and invite you to visit us every year at our Allbreed Cat Show, held the second weekend in February at the Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California, in the beautiful North Bay Wine Country.

cfa-l.gifClub Objectives
Call of the Wild Cat Fanciers, a not-for-profit organization, was established in Sonoma County in 1988. Our goals are to promote thoughtful breeding of pedigreed cats, sponsor an annual cat show to spread information about cats in general, raise money to be used for the benefit of cats, encourage spay/neuter programs for cats not in selective breeding programs, help in community education about cats, and promote a positive understanding of pedigreed cats.

Our club is affiliated with The Cat Fanciers’ Association, Inc. (CFA), a non-profit organization also dedicated to the welfare of cats. Founded in 1906, CFA is the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats.

We strongly encourage spaying and neutering all cats that are not being used as part of a selective and viable breeding program. While a few of our members raise and show purebred cats, all of us have in common that we love cats of all shapes, sizes, colors and "purr-sonalities."

Club Activities
Every February, our Club holds a public cat show to promote knowledge about pedigreed cats and generate interest in all cats. We’re very proud that, over the years, we’ve been able to donate many thousands of dollars to animal charities. We’ve sponsored a Cat Adoption Room in the beautiful new Humane Society of Sonoma County and, as a result of last year’s show alone, donated over $7,000.00 to charities like Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County, FAIRE (Friends of the Animals in the Redwood Empire), Persian and Himalayan Rescue, Pets Lifeline of Sonoma and the Winn Feline Foundation for Feline Research and have committed to long-term sponsorship of the Silver Whiskers Club at the Humane Society of Sonoma County. So,in 2007, members of the Silver Whiskers cats were our honored guests. Club member, Sue Weitendorf, presented the check for the Silver Whiskers cats to Scott Anderson of the Humane Society. Membership
Call of the Wild Cat Fanciers exists to benefit cats. Potential members must love cats and agree to work to promote the welfare and improvement of all cats and to support the club's objectives. We meet once a month on a weekday night, usually at 7:30 pm, in a club member's home.

If you are interested in becoming a member or in learning more about our cat club, please contact us at bluekat@vom.com.
